Summer Beginnings ... An Art Show
Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm
Location: Pegasus Art and Frame - 10 Cedar Swamp Road, Smithfield, RI
FREE! The Opening will be June 19th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm; light refreshments will be served. The show will run through July 10th at 8:00pm.

Pegasus Art and Frame, located in Smithfield, will be hosting an Art Show featuring two local artists: John Pitocco, a photographer from Chepachet, and jewelry artist Sherrie Faring of Pascoag.

John Pitocco, a recent graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design - Continuing Education in digital photography is also an artist member of the Wickford Art Association. The show will feature his unique view of local life as well as photography from his travels.

Sherrie Faring has studied and practiced crafts for over 30 years. She has studied with the Worcester Center for Crafts, Crystal Beads of Boston and
individual artists. Sherrie specializes in working with sterling silver, glass beads, specialized findings and semi-precious stones. Her creations include necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

FREE Concert: Parallel String Band

Location: Foster Fairgrounds, behind 181 Howard Hill Road, Foster, RI
Parallel String Band is one of Rhode Island's premier acoustic bands. With their smooth vocals and accomplished instrumental work, they combine the best elements of contemporary and traditional folk, bluegrass, swing and old time string band music into an impressive display of musical energy. Equally at home on the concert stage or in an intimate coffee house setting, the band has performed throughout Southern New England for over fifteen years. Parallel String Band veterans Lisa Schmitz on banjo, guitar and vocals, Matt Bolles on bass, guitar, uke and vocals, and Chris Heinzmann on fiddle extraordinaire, are thrilled to welcome the band's newest member, Bill Henry, a flat-picking guitar wizard and dynamic lead and harmony vocalist. Audiences both familiar and new have welcomed Bill also, as the rave reviews will attest. With their broad variety of styles, and infectious spirit, The Parallel String Band appeals to listeners of all ages.
