Free -- for children up to age 18
The Rhode Island Shriners will conduct a no charge screening
clinic for its Shriners Hospitals network. Shriners Hospitals treat children up to age 18 at no cost. Shriners Hospitals for Children is a one-of-a-kind international health care system consisting of 22 hospitals, including one each in Boston and Springfield, Mass., dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing pediatric specialty care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs. Children up to 18 years old with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate are eligible for care and receive all services in a family-centered environment at no charge regardless of income or insurance status. The Boston hospital treats burn injuries, cleft lip and palate, port wine stains and hemangiomas, scarring and deformity of the face and severe scarring resulting in contractures or interfering with mobility of the limbs. The Springfield hospital treats cleft lip and palate, chest wall deformities, clubfoot, hand deformities, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, limb deficiency and spinal abnormalities.
